Welcome back friend! If you're enjoying it here, why not join me join me on Facebook, follow me on Twitter, or find me on LinkedIn. Look forward to seeing you.

I’ve completed half of my target.

Still slow going.

Reviewed the first email to apply the techniques I mentioned in the last post. Quite shocking when looking back at it. Just writing and writing I’m starting to get a better feel of writing those sales letters. Still a long way off, but certainly much better.

These last few will be much harder to come up with ideas.

I’m learning to pick out those things that mean the most to the buyer. All the ideas come form the sales letters that I’ve printed out. I use those to highlight what are the biggest concerns for buyers. Finding what they really want.

Creating a 30 email series from that is not too easy, but enough wining, I should get on with it.

12 down and 18 to go.

Taking longer than I thought. But that’s the way things go.

The more you need to persevere, the more it means when it’s done. Yadda, yadda yadda.

This has, as you might have figured out, just been an exercise in copywriting. And it has been pretty darn interesting. Along the way I’ve been bumping into all the big names in Internet marketing.

Yanik Silver’s company Surefiremarketing does a whole bunch of information products and now he does stuff for entrepreneurs as well. I bought one product which consisted of a whole lot of autoresponder series’ from some other well-known marketing guys. It was a cheap, but did give me a good overview of the relaxed and personal style they use for all their communication.

Another Internet copywriter is John Carlton. He has an email series on writing strategy that you can sign up to at his site.

So far I’ve been trying to put the “bucket brigade” technique to use throughout the email series.

It’s not too difficult and I’m also noting down all those creative words they like to throw around all the time, like awesome, desperate, outrageous, empowered, all-important and other.

And that’s not all…

Just couldn’t help myself there.

Putting out 4 emails a day or so is a decent target, but will need more than that to finish before Chinese New Year. Getting them done is more important than them being perfect. I can tweak them later.

Till next time.

So I started to write the email autoresponder series.

Let me first explain what an autoresponder series is.

Someone fills in a form with their email address and their name. They fill this out because of the promise of further information, or a giveaway of somekind, the important part is that they give their information.

After the information is received, a series of emails is ready to be sent to them. I use the Aweber service because they are just the best, with extremely high delivery rates and good reputation.

Emails in the series are set to be sent at different times.

There is an initial email which requires the person to click a link to confirm that they opted into the list. This measure has become required in recent years due to abuse of autoresponder series and people being signed up without consenting.

Immediately after they click the confirmation link in the first email they are sent the first email in the series. After that each email is set to be sent a certain time after each other.

It has been proven that multiple contacts with prospects yields the best results. Not simply because you keep bugging them, but because they see that you really do want them to do something or go to a particular site.

The Infomillionaire system recommends 30 follow-up emails, which is a helluva lot, so I’ve been wracking my brain over that one.

So I got some help by getting the autorespondermagic ebook and giving it a good read. It is essentially a collection of autoresponder series of other online marketers.

It doesn make good reading and I have been encouraged that the way I’m writing is not too bad. Not too pushy, but with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm.

Some of the messages in those series were very simple and just cut to the chase. Just my style.

Diving into Clickbank and PPC

So I bought the Infomillionaire course online and received it about one week ago.

The course is a guide to generating income selling information products online.

The basic process is this.

  • Identify a product on Clickbank.
  • Create a landing page to collect email addresses.
  • Use Pay-per-click to drive traffic to that landing page.
  • Sell the product using an email autoresponder to keep contact.

I’ve identified three niches that I will test. The ultimate aim of the process above is to generate some money, but more importantly it is a tool to gauge whether there is a market for that particular product. If you don’t make any sales of the other guy’s product, then it’s quite possible that the market is not great, then you should try another product.

Not all the products work well online.

At this stage I’m working on the email autoresponder series.

This is proving very taxing on my brain. It’s getting easier, but I have to really put in a concerted effort to get them done. Writing is not my thing, especially when it’s not something I’m familiar with. But I’m pressing on.

It’s strange that I always have a little bit of doubt as to whether this is all possible. Especially after a few years of plugging away at websites that don’t generate much revenue.

I’ll report back on how things go.
